Title: Analysis of Minimum Measurable Noise Level using Standard Measurement Equipment
Thesis version: 1
Student: Balaji Ramdas
1. Achieved results
The subject of the diploma thesis is the analysis of the minimum measurable noise level using standard measuring devices. The subject of the diploma thesis is a theoretical analysis of the problem and a subsequent practically focused part, consisting of the design of an experiment and the
implementation of measurements. The work solves a current problem in the field of noise
measurement, which is current especially in the last ten years. The student solves all assigned tasks in the diploma thesis. The overall impression of the work is good.
2. Problematics of thesis
The diploma thesis deals with a relatively complicated role in the field of low noise
levelmeasurement and was prepared for the needs of CPIT - VŠB TU Ostrava. In the introductory general part of the thesis there is a theoretical analysis of the problem. Subsequently is designed an experimet. In the final part of the thesis, several measurements on prepeared setup were realized.
3. Student’s proceed to work at thesis
The student actively approached the diploma thesis. He cooperated on performed measurements and, as far as possible, attended the agreed consultations. A minor complication was the fact that, across the warning, the student chose a thematic area unknown to him so far.
4. Formal essentials of thesis
The formal side of the work is not very successful. The work seems inconsistent, the arrangement of the text often lacks logical continuity. The style and processing of images of equations and graphs are not uniform and it is clear, that they often come from Internet sources.
5. Questions to student
Q1: Is it necessary for the microphones used in a paired arrangement to be the same (manufacturer, type, sensitivity)?
Q2: Was the microphone calibrated before the actual measurement? If not, how could this have affected the measurements made?
6. General revaluation of thesis
From the achieved results it is clear that the student somehow fulfilled all the points of the assignment. The weaker formal side and the overall level of the work is understandable given the circumstances at the time of its creation. I recommend the defense.
