4.4 Analysis of results

157 respondents took part in the survey.

Only a small number of respondents commutes to work or university less than once a week. It is important to this thesis, since it is focused on the EV part of Tesla’s business.

The majority of the respondents commutes to work by public transport. However, 44 people use their cars for that. Among the answers „other“ were such things as taxi, walking, working from home.

As for the screening questions, if the respondents answered that they did not know what CSR means or chose the wrong answer for explaining the abbreviation, their answers were taken into account separately for some questions. Also, if the respondents work with the concept of CSR their answers were not taken into account at all. Or if the respondents worked for Tesla, Inc., their answers would not be taken into account at all.

A great number of respondents does not know what CSR means. So, this question serves not only as a screening question, but also as a factor that should be considered further.

This question was placed to check that respondents did not answer the previous question randomly. However, 2 people did not pass it. Even if it was answered wrongly by accident, their answers were not considered in the following questions.

8 people from those left in the survey work with the concept of CSR, therefore their answers could differ from others, since they encounter a lot of such information at their workplace or while reading/studying new information for self-improvement.

Majority of respondents prefers to buy products or services from socially responsible companies. Interestingly, in the group of people who do not know what the abbreviation CSR means, more people answered that they prefer to buy products from socially responsible companies.

However, more than half is still not ready to pay more for such products or services. And even the bigger percentage of those, who do not know what CSR is, would pay more for such products or services.

Graph 12 shows the answers of respondents, who know what CSR means. Graph 13 shows the answers of respondents, who do not know what CSR means. More than half considers Tesla to be a socially responsible firm. Nevertheless, the number of respondents that do not think so is still high. Among the people who do not know what the abbreviation CSR means, the bigger percentage consider Tesla to be a socially responsible firm.

The most common answer was that the respondent did not know any. Among the answers of those who could name some were such activities as: diversity and inclusivity, sustainability, alternative sources of energy.

And there even were those, who considered the company to be anti-socially responsible.

For example, “supporting child labor in congo and generally inhumane ways of mining cobalt”; “cutting forest in Germany“.

This question was asked in order to check aided awareness. However, the number of people, who could not recognise any is still high. The answers are shown together with the answers of people, who do not know what CSR is, because the knowledge of the abbreviation does not influence the awareness of these activities. The most known CSR activity of Tesla is

“Responsible material sourcing.” “Disaster Relief” is the least-known.
