Abstracts

The writing focuses on visually impaired children’s school career education and discusses its importance. Its primary goal is to describe the essential elements of visually impaired children’s career education.

Аннотация

Тема данной статьи - трудовое обучение слабовидящих детей в начальной школе.

Основная цель исследования заключается в описании методов и элементов трудового обучения детей с названными нарушениями.

Ключевые слова: трудовое обучение, слабовидящие дети, дети с нарушениями в развитии.

The education for children with disabilities in special schools is important and therefore necessary work, for without it they will feel helpless, abandoned and stigmatized. Education minimizes this problem. Activities form and correct many vital functions of disabled children:

motor, communicative, cognitive, motivational. For visually impaired children, it is a way to compensate or reestablish disordered or undeveloped functions, and helps them to prepare for an adult life. Both special needs and career education are educational activities that aim to develop students by giving them a positive and respectful attitude to work, while simultaneously practicing different skills and abilities. The education helps these children to integrate into society. Therefore, career education is a very important element in the educational process in special needs schools.

Career education lessons help to overcome negative potential consequences of visual impairment. By learning something and experimenting with its forms, shape, size, weight, and surface, children practice to learn orientation in that thing’s world and space. Through this, their worldview and societal knowledge become wider. [2]

The program of career classes includes technical, agricultural, and housekeeping training’s parts. During technical training, children in elementary schools discover a world of elements. They learn how to deal with different materials, how to manufacture it, and how to use special tools for work. Children will therefore acquire knowledge about the work’s progress and process. During agricultural classes, for example, children with visual impairments learn to participate in home horticulture and gardening. These activities provide a variety of sensory experiences: smell, taste, and touch. Children also explore general plant and animals care. In housekeeping trainings they get daily living skills like cooking, sewing, and cleaning. Children learn personal hygiene rules and clothing care. [1]

In my home town of Vladimir, children with visually impairments attend the special boarding school. They have a variety of career education lessons, which helps help to normalize their live, integrate into society, and minimize the risk of stigmatization.
