Comments and Questions:
The thesis focuses on the entry strategy of Compelson into the U.S. market. The author firstly summarizes the major marketing theory terms and concepts such as marketing research, entry strategy, SWOT analysis, PEST analysis, Porter’s five competitive forces analysis, and Hofstede Cultural Dimensions.
These parts have been mostly compiled from the textbooks without any author’s own opinions and comments. In the second part, the author brings an overview of the fundamentals of digital forensic science and illustrates it on the US market. He collected a lot of statistical data, however was not able to analyse them left the text on a very descriptive level only. Then the author introduces the company Compelson supplying Czech law enforcement agencies with phone forensics software and services.
SWOT analysis is very short and, evaluation of market selection is weakly argued. The evaluation of market entry is done quite well, logically explained, the comparison table on page 45 is understandable. It is a pity that the conclusions are too general and that the author did not take full advantage of the research findings. Therefore the work is only on average level. From the technical point of view, the work has significant shortcomings, the sources of literature could have been more carefully selected. Questions: 1) Compare the business opportunities of Compelson in the Czech and the US markets. 2) How would you predict forensic science in years to come – growing or declining?
Conclusion: The Bachelor’s thesis is recommended for the defence.
