Evaluation justification (strengths and weaknesses of thesis):
Demonstrates weakness in the use of English articles (a, an, the).
No discernable thesis statement.
The multiple errors on page 15 suggest a lack of proofreading.
The focus is supposedly on the Afro-Caribbean community, but much of the evidence deals simply with white-black race relations, not taking into account the geographic origin of the blacks
involved.
Pages 21-22 deal with blacks from Kenya and Uganda, which hardly seems applicable to a thesis on Afro-Caribbeans.
Section 4.3 is too general to be of value.
The thesis clearly lacks focus, and its poor structure confuses rather than clarifies.
Questions to be answered by student:
Define Afro-Caribbean.
Identify the distinctions, if any, between African blacks and Caribbean blacks in the UK. Do whites and blacks recognized these distinctions? If so, how? If not, why not?
You conclude that Afro-Caribbeans should keep the “positive values” of their cultures. Which values are positive, and who or what determines this?
