Konkrétní připomínky a dotazy k práci:
The diploma thesis is focused on intermodal transport in three selected countries. The thesis’s focus is encompassing the legislation, infrastructure, and intermodal planning in a case company. To name some of the thesis’s weak points, I would like to mention the sources of literature being used. Considering that the topic of intermodal transport is well researched, the share of research articles cited is relatively low.
Secondly, the diploma thesis’s focus is too broad, and therefore the thesis is in many of its parts narrative rather than research-based. The parts that I want to highlight and that have brought some new insights into the problem of intermodal planning are chapters 3 and 4.1. The case study methodology is a suitable methodology to answer the research question. On the other hand, the author’s approach is again very descriptive, and no recommendations are provided to the case company. The questions for the defense are, therefore following:
1) What steps and actions adopted by the countries in focus would facilitate international intermodal transportation regarding the involved parties’ administrative burden?
2) The important hubs and ports have been named in the thesis. Could the author propose any new rail routes that could be used instead of the recent road transport to the case company? How important would the length of the route or time factor be in this particular multimodal planning case?
Závěr: Diplomovou práci doporučuji k obhajobě.
