The diploma thesis (DT) deals with application of geotechnical softwares for evaluation of slope stability in mining. The diploma thesis meets academic requirements for diploma thesis and is well elaborated.
2. Does the diploma thesis fully correspond with the assignment?
The diploma thesis is divided into six chapters which fully correspond with the recommended description. The aim of the diploma thesis was met.
3. How do you evaluate the author’s attitude to the work on their diploma thesis?
The author of the diploma thesis worked mainly independently, kept in touch with his supervisor and after continuously followed the supervisor’s advice.
4. Evaluation of the formal aspects of the diploma thesis.
The language quality of the diploma thesis is very good, I found only minimum formal shortcomings (e.g. Contitions instead conditions). From formal point of view, it is possible to critically evaluate a missing citation of the literal source at Table 2.2 and non-uniform form of references (the author interchanged literature number and author’s name).
5. Other remarks and critical comments.
The diploma thesis is divided into six chapters. The first 3 chapters deal with theoretical background research. The main chapters are chapters 4 and 5 where the author describes practical use of
geotechnical softwares and his experience with them. The final chapter is the conclusion where the author summarizes his findings. From the DT is evident that the author has good theoretical background and skills for evaluation of slope instability by using geotechnical software.
6. What is the practical application of the thesis?
The student applied his theoretical knowledges in practical conditions of real quarry and some parts of the research are also suitable for publishing.
7. Your statement on the verdict concerning plagiarism.
The DT has been sent to THESES system for plagiarism check developed by the Masaryk University in Brno and the system did not find a similar document. Total resemblance is less than 9%.
8. Overall evaluation of the thesis.
The submitted diploma thesis is of very good quality, I have only several formal remarks described above. I recommended the diploma thesis for defence and classify it as excellent.
