Occupation of the Master's thesis supervisor:
The presented thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part, as usual. In theoretical part, the author characterizes traditional and new retail industry. Further, she pays attention to basic terms as strategy and strategic analysis methods. In practical part, she introduces an analysed company and applies chosen methods. The extent of used literature is at good level.
Some methods could be elaborated in greater depth and detail. I recommend the presented thesis for defence. Questions for defence: 1) The author writes about the growing segment of fresh food. What are the main reasons (causes) for growth of this segment? 2) The author writes that food market is “a highly homogeneous market”. Are any segments of food market at least partially diverse? For example, organic food segment is very popular in Europe. Organic label or eco-friendly label can be a way of differentiation. What is the opinion of the author? 3) How popular is a local food production in China? Can be an emphasis on domestic production a way of differentiation in China?
