Konkrétní připomínky a dotazy k práci:

The thesis by E. Lakatosh deals with a very challenging and complex topic. The author approaches the integration process through complex adaptive systems analysis.

The whole thesis is very detailed, starts with and touches upon a number of historical and current events.

The application of theory is realized by a description of the functioning of the EU (institutions,

decision-making processes etc.). Too much space is dedicated to the role and competencies of the actors than to the analysis of their role and issues of their powers in the whole process. This is one of the

weaknesses, as it affects the balance of the thesis. In some parts, it is hard to understand the idea and the reference, which the author is trying to point out. The formal side of the thesis is not perfect. Typos, incorrect references are present, this also negatively affects the overall quality of the thesis.

I have to say, the whole project from the beginning was not well designed and we led plenty of discussions on how to adjust to something realistic. From my perspective, the thesis shows a lot of work that has been done, but I miss more elaboration and findings that would provide more arguments and systemic analysis, balanced discussion and concrete outcomes.

Also, I have to add, I really appreciate the author’s willingness to tirelessly work on improving the thesis.

Questions for defense: Elaborate on the limitations of CAS (in general) and its application on the case of the EU.

Could you explain how the main stakeholders perceive further integration? Could you identify ”the red lines” Illustrate on some selected cases.

Závěr: Diplomovou práci doporučuji k obhajobě.
