Comments and Questions:
The thesis is aimed at assessment of the impacts of the 2014 financial crisis on the Russian economy. The thesis meets all the requirements given on this type of academic work. The author states the goals of the thesis and for achieving them, she used the literature review for comparison of the economic situation before and after the crisis. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first one is a based on a theoretical consideration of the causes of the crisis. The second is aimed at analyzing specifics of the Russian crisis in relation to the development of the oil prices, collapse of the ruble and sanctions after the Crimea crisis.
The author analyses the economic development while assessing the dynamics of changes in the main economic indicators. The third part deals with the position of the country in the global economic environment and changes caused by the crisis. The author proved that she is able to work in an appropriate manner with the scientific sources and use them for supporting her arguments. The
conclusions of the thesis are relevant and correspond to the research results. For the discussion with the defence, I propose the following issues: 1. Consider the impact of sanctions for economies of both involved sides. Would you say that there is also a positive effect of them? Do they impact negatively just the country that faces those sanctions? 2. Did the WTO membership help the Russian federation in surviving the financial crisis of 2014? 2.
Conclusion: The Master Thesis is recommended for the defence.
