Author is providing new thesis, which is nicely organized, logically structured and meets the requirements of such an academic work. The pick of the huge conglomerate such as Huawei was truly challenging, which has led to the fact that some of the analyses were not really in depth. There are also some typos and flaws in the text. The author is relying in many parts on the documents and data, which are provided directly from the company. In this sense, they might be a bit biased. I would also have several comments on the content itself below (some of them should be discusses and answered during the defense):
I am missing some critical evaluation of the corporate statements.
STAKEHOLDER ANALYSIS - however the analysis as such follows the correct logic, it is devalued by using the company official report as the only source of the data. Furthermore, based on what you assume, that the shareholding employees have such a high power? Some sources state that the ultimate power still holds the founder, however he is holding only 1,01% share.. As I was reading about the ownership structure, I saw some other stakeholder groups, which should have been mentioned (Union of Huawei Investment & Holding, Huawei Investment & Holding, subsidiaries...)
PESTEL - Good, apart from the following example: "Other than macro factors like international trading, the Chinese government also has impact on sales of Huawei company. The Chinese political circumstances affect the economic conditions of the country and therefore, influence on the profitability of the business." - this is just a general statement.
MARKET ANALYSIS - How is it possible that the Apple has higher revenues that Huawei in China? I have checked some figures online and assume that the number stated here is wrong.
5F - some parts are very general, e.g. "The government regulations in the industry, also require strict licensing and legal conditions to be met before a business can start to set up and sell products." Otherwise, is nicely done.
VRIO - "large and innovative product line" - I cannot see the industry context here. What do the product lines of the competitors look like? I would say that the Xiaomi for instance has also quite extensive one.
SWOT - some parts are not well-connected to the previous analyses. W - weak financial resources - how do you know? It is not an outcome of any analyses. The same applies for the marketing approaches mentioned in here. That was not part of the benchmarking.
RECOMMENDATIONS - author could have addressed more O's and T's from the SWOT. For instance, what would he suggest towards the aging population problem?
