Konkrétní připomínky a dotazy k práci:
Master’s thesis by Eduard Lakatosh deals with a very complex topic of the future of the integration model in light of the increasing complexity of European issues. The author aims to get a better understanding of the current state of the European Union and shedding some light on the areas of concern for the future.
The thesis is not easy to read. It definitely shows a huge effort but the aim and structure should have been designed more carefully to bring more specific conclusions. As it is now the thesis opens a wide variety of questions but answers only a few of them. It certainly shows how the growing complexity of the integration process influences its outcomes. It clearly documents how ever more detailed interactions between the stakeholders of the integration process make the agreement more difficult. And finally, it uses several case studies to document theoretical assumptions. In my opinion, the author should have concentrated on fewer cases – one would be enough if chosen well – which would lead to more specific outcomes and more detailed analysis. Also, the author’s own contribution could have been clearer if the case study uses more original data and research. As it is, the thesis meets the requirements of the faculty, andI do recommend it for defense. I however suggest that it is evaluated by grade very good or good depending on how well the author defends his work.
Following questions could be discussed during the defense:
1. Is the increasing complexity of the European integration dealt with during the recent Debate on the Future of the EU? If so, what are the main proposals facing this issue?
2. From what we know about the program of the French Presidency of the Council, which french proposals will make the EU more effective and ready for global challenges?
Závěr: Diplomovou práci doporučuji k obhajobě.
