Comments and Questions:
The bachelor thesis deals with very actual, very important and today in European context often discussed topic of freedom of media. The case study of the Hungary is sufficiently justified and the topic has, undoubtedly, a great potential for critical analyse. I consider the advantage of the bachelor’s thesis to be a clear definition of the goal and research questions. The methodology is presented above average. It is fully functional, the author not only performs qualitative evaluation, but relies on indexes. The structure of the thesis is logical and the individual parts are argumentatively correctly connected. The theoretical background is fully functional and directly related to the case study. Chapter 3.3 could be better linked to the case study and the answers to the research questions could then be incorporated more clearly and argued in the Conclusion. The level of referencing is appropriate. The author is familiar with key literature in the field of hybrid regimes and freedom of media and there is superior evaluation of existing literature.
The list of references could be structured for better clarity. The thesis provides excellent language level and I have no comments to the formal requirements. The author has been fully successful in fulfilling his goal and the text is interpretive sufficiently. The text undoubtedly fulfils a level of requirements for bachelor
́s thesis and I recommend it for defence. Questions for the thesis defence: 1) Can new hybrid regimes be foreseen in the EU and which countries could be vulnerable? 2) According to the author, should the EU be more active in the event of a threat to media freedom?
Conclusion: The Bachelor Thesis is recommended for the defence.
