Title: The Analysis of the Turbine Blade Fixture Crack
Thesis version: 1
Student: Dhanishkumar Loganadaneejil
1. Achieved results
The deformation and stress state of the blade holder are analysed in two model configurations.
Without side contact of both and including side contact. The aim is to find if the gap between them could be the reason of the crack appearance. The analysis is done, I have seen the results, but unfortunately it is not presented in thesis. This is the wake point of the work.
2. Problematics of thesis
The blade of rotating turbine is clutched by the holder. In the holder corner cracks appears. The theme comes from industry, the deformation and stress analysis is requested to find the reason of the crack appearance. The results are important for industrial practice and is adequately difficult for the master degree.
3. Student’s proceed to work at thesis
The student attend the consultations regularly. We discussed the simulation process and the general aim of the work, the comparison of the two model configuration results. Referring to the presented results I am not sure about student’s understanding.
4. Formal essentials of thesis
The formal standard looks good, both text and figures. The introduction part seems to be too long.
5. Questions to student
Page 37, fig. 47 - Why the displacement in y direction is presented, instead of z direction, what is the most important for the investigation ?
Page 38, fig. 50 - Why the maximum stress on blade is presented, while the main interest is on holder
?
6. General revaluation of thesis
The analysis is performed in appropriate scale, but the presentation doesn’t show the most important results. I recommend the thesis to defence and, after answering questions, I suggest the evaluation
“good”.
