Comments and Questions:
According to the author, the aim is to prove that China is a country worthy of investment, especially in the high-tech industries. I assume the author means FDI, not investment in general. To this end they use the PEST analysis as a method of identifying motives of investors. The aim is clear and quite well met even if the analysis should go deeper and be more specific. Language is mostly adequate and the
straightforward, logical structure of the thesis makes it easy to read.
Throughout the text, the author uses an incredible amount of data, going into exceptional detail about relevant parts of the economy. In some parts it seems excessive, particularly since they often do not use figures to visualize the phenomena. However, the main issue is that a part of this information does not seem to be cited, despite obviously being taken from another source. The overall number of sources in the bibliography section is also quite short and not very varied. The formal and visual side could be improved, especially by better formatting (it would make the thesis easier to read as well).
I especially appreciate the author’s contribution to the topic in the form of recommendations, even though the analysis should be more comprehensive and conclusive.
Questions:
1. You mention significant changes to the energy mix. How do you think the green economy policies and plans will be affected by the growing energy consumption in China? How might a significant growth in the high-tech FDI affect this?
2. Do you think that the problematic IP protection in China might present a cause for concern for foreign companies? Is there any progress on the issue?
Conclusion: The Bachelor Thesis is recommended for the defence.
