Comments and Questions:
The thesis focus on the role of organization that can play in its location. It is a very up-to-date topic, relevant for analysis from both corporations and other stakeholders from the wider society. The author’s focus on the role of hospital is very interesting angle of application of the place-builder theory.
Theoretical part presents solid overview of relevant sources.
The international comparison of two hospital regions in OECD countries, Antofagasta in Chile and Innsbruck in Austria, brings a very interesting view on the hospital potential as the place builder and co-creator. I highly appreciate author’s effort to usher the reader into main characteristics and challenges of different healthcare financing and regulation systems.
The research work focuses mainly on the analysis of the secondary data. The primary data collected by own survey could have been based on bigger pool of respondents. The author could explain the limited sample at the thesis defense.
The outcomes are well discussed. I appreciate author’s wider understanding of hospital role in the sustainability of the region development and suggestions for policy makers.
English and stylistics show some small grammar mistakes (e.g. “…indicators had to be rebuild” p.68).
However, there is not impact on understanding for the reader.
It is visible that author has complex understanding of the topic.
Questions:
1.Given the recent and still present Covid-19 pandemic situation, which internal and external stakeholders in your assessed regions were/are impacted most? Are there any stakeholder groups that increased their power from the perspective of the hospital? Are there any stakeholder groups that increased their interest position from the perspective of the hospital? How should hospital change its approach to these
stakeholders? Use Figure 13 and Figure 14. 2.Based on the outcomes of your thesis, where do you see points for inspirations for each of the systems from the other region?
Conclusion: The Master Thesis is recommended for the defence.
