Konkrétní připomínky a dotazy k práci:
The thesis presents results of an experiment examining the existence of the IKEA effect in evaluation of rule learning results. The description of the background of the study as well as the literature review are clear and well written. The experiment is skillfully designed and conducted. The ”textbook” description of statistical tests is unnecessary. The tests overlap and it might have been possible to select just one of the tests rather than conducting all; even though, admittedly, multiple tests can serve for checking robustness of the results. The description of the results confuses a measure of an effect size with a statistical test. The biggest shortcoming of the thesis is a lack of proper discussion. The text ends with a short conclusion, but a discussion section is missing. Consequently, discussion of the obtained results in relation to the existing literature is missing as well. The formal requirements of theses were followed and the thesis is generally well written.
Questions for the defense: 1) Can we conclude that there is no effect of the manipulation? 2) How could the experimental design be adjusted to distinguish between the described explanations of the IKEA effect?
3) Is it possible that selection effects might have affected the results of the experiment?
Závěr: Diplomovou práci doporučuji k obhajobě.
