Verbal assessment (describe the strongest and weakest aspects of the thesis; especially in case of a low assessment 3-4, concrete reproaches need to be expressed):
First, I consider necessary to say that the cooperation between the author and me as a supervisor was more or less cyclical. It was influenced by the fact (COVID reason) that we could not meet very often face-to-face. At the begging of our cooperation, we had many debates about the assignment and the structure of his thesis (almost on a daily basis). Later communication was very rare and I saw the final draft of the thesis few days before the deadline. However, I was positively surprised by the quality of the text. It is a well-focused text studying an interesting topic which is highly relevant in current academic and economic policy debate.
The main goal of the study is an analysis of the impact of mobile payment on money supply in China. The goal and implicit hypothesis are adequately stated in the introduction. Structure of the thesis is logical and coherent with the title. The thesis has a standard structure of an academic article/working paper. After the theoretical introduction the thesis is dealing with the review of empirical literature and appropriate stylized facts. The empirical part follows the theoretical introduction.
Author demonstrates good understanding of the VAR approach. However, choosing this method could be more justified and supported by the current academic literature. I miss descriptive statistics of input data. Not too clear is the choice of variables. Where did the authors inspire? I miss deeper discussion and comparison of authors results with other empirical papers. Nevertheless, the empirical part is properly organized and the results are very good presented.
Formal aspects are not excellent, there are many typing and formatting mistakes. The style is not very synthetic.
Complex assessment (it is necessary to state whether the thesis complies with the Methodological guidelines of the Faculty of Economics, University of Economics, Prague as concerns the quality of the content, the extent and formal requirements and whether the thesis is being recommended to the defense or not; the thesis can also be nominated to a special award, etc.):
The complexity of both theoretical and practical part is adequate for a bachelor thesis. The topic is very challenging. Despite the defect mentioned above the thesis meets all formal requirements for the thesis at the Faculty of Economic. The author did a very good research. I recommended it for the defense.
