The topic of this thesis is interesting and relevant. The thesis is logically structured.

The abstract provides and adequate summary of the thesis and informs the reader about the main findings and value added of the study.

The introduction opens a scientific debate and informs the reader about college students‘ attitute to investment in China. The aim of the thesis – to analyze factors that influence Chinese students‘

participation in investment market and provide recommendations – is clearly presented in the introductory part and rigorously followed throughout the thesis.

The theoretical part is well interconnected with the analytical part and provides a useful overview of the state of art. Abundantly uses relevant literature and presents some interesting numbers on investment structure in China and factors possibly influencing investment management by an individual.

The analytical part presents a survey research and fulfills the aim of the thesis. This part is methodologically rigorous. Construction of the model, survey details and all variables are well explained. I appreciate a clear interpretation of own results. Conclusions are relevant to the goal of the thesis, I appreciate their theoretical settlement. The value added of this thesis is obvious and consists not only in own analysis of the relationship between gender, class rank, age, risk preference, etc., and financial management behavior, but above all in the ability of the author to generalize own findings and formulate relevant recommendations for college students.

Conclusions are clearly presented and are interconnected with the objective of the thesis. The author draws interesting questions for further research.

When reading the thesis, I was disappointed by the system of citations which is very confusing. If citations are not presented in alphabetical order, they should be numered in text and in the list of referenced literature. Also, in case of direct citations, the page of cited text in original literature should be indicated. Some of the title cited in the text are missing in the reference list (e.g. Chow and Riley – p. 20).

Complex assessment (it is necessary to state whether the thesis complies with the Methodological guidelines of the Faculty of Economics, University of Economics, Prague as concerns the quality of the content, the extent and formal requirements and whether the thesis is being recommended to the defense or not; the thesis can also be nominated to a special award, etc. ):

The abstract provides an adequate summary of the thesis. The theoretical part is well interconnected with the analytical part. Structure is logical, methodological rigor is present. All parts of the thesis are compatible and the conclusion presents clearly results obtained, as well as resolution of the aim of the thesis. I consider this thesis very well prepared, it is both scientifically mature and also an engaging read.

The thesis complies with the Methodological guidelines of the Faculty of Economics, University of Economics, Prague as concerns the quality of the content, the extent and formal requirements and I recommend it for defence.

Questions to the defense:

1. Have you observed any specific features in investment behavior of Chinese students which you suppose would be different if your questionnaire was distributed in other countries? In other words – are Chinese students different from students in other countries in investment behaviour?
