Topic: Assessment of the Factors Affecting the Asset Securitization Business of Commercial Banks

Diploma thesis of the student Gaoge Jin concentrates on factors affecting the asset securitization business of selected chinese commercial banks. A well-functioning banking system and stable banks are an important prerequisite for economic development in each country. The assessment of the factors affecting the asset securitization business of commercial banks is a very timely and useful topic and also corresponds with the topics of diploma thesis at the Department of Finance.
” The aim of this work is to assess whether selected macroeconomic variables and indicators of bank financial performance might influence the securitization business of the Chinese banks.”
Diploma thesis is divided into five main chapters, where first chapter is introduction, second chapter is descriptive, third chapter is theoretical and methodological, chapter fourth is the application part, and the last chapter is conclusion.
Second chapter is concentrated on description of the concept of asset securitization. First, the author describes the process of securitization, types of securitized assets and types of securitization. Then attention is paid to description of securitization in China. The chapter third is devoted to description of the regression analysis including tests of regression.
The most important part of the diploma thesis is the chapter fourth, where is assessment of asset securitization business determinants in China. First, the author describes input data including descriptive statistics. Then, econometric model is estimated and also tested. Results are commented and presented in the tables and by graphs. However, the question is to what extent the input data used is objective. As the author stated, the data used are for the largest commercial banks that are state-owned and this selected banks have to participated in securitization because of government requirements. However, this fact does not reduce the excellent level of this thesis.
The thesis is processed on the excellent level of expertise, including conclusions and graphical presentation.. Because the main aim of this thesis has been fulfilled and author also respects the formal guidelines, the diploma thesis can be recommended to defense.
