Comments and Questions:
The thesis analyzes the evolution of the retail market in the Czech Republic and in the Russian Federation focusing on the differences between the two and on the spread of different types of innovations in these markets, such as, digitalization, online retailing.
The thesis provides a detailed description of the historical evolution of the retail market in the two
countries, the main players in each market. The descriptions of the retail markets in the two countries cover different periods and, occasionally, focus on different aspects. The thesis makes limited attempts to explain the different evolutions in the two countries based on economic context and economic policies adopted.
The thesis uses a broad range of business reports and data sources, but uses makes limited used of official statistics even for describing the evolution of macroeconomic indicators.
Questions for the defense of the final thesis: 1. In which country the retail market is more concentrated and why? 2. How important is access to internet in the two countries as a barrier to the growth of online retail?
Conclusion: The Bachelor Thesis is recommended for the defence.
