Konkrétní připomínky a dotazy k práci:

The thesis’s objective is to analyze the impact of the trade war between the U.S. and China on the

American e-commerce business in 2018-2019 by taking the example of Amazon’s online retail sector. The author addresses the objective through the research question: ”What strategy e-commerce business has to choose when facing protectionist policies?”.

Theoretical review frames the definitions, development, and classification of the e-commerce and brief overview of the e-commerce structure in the U.S.. Amazon’s business model concerning its suppliers is briefly introduced, and US – China trade relationship is discussed. The discussion part is focused on answering the above research question by analyzing the application of the U.S.-China trade war side effects on Amazon’s e-commerce business. It suggests a model of strategies for e-commerce business affected by tariffs increase.

The author analyzed the issue from different perspectives using and combining secondary information sources. There is a clear and consistent link between the theoretical framework and the

analytics/discussion part. The thesis objective was delivered. For the author’s future references, it might be useful to address the structure and content by eliminating parts in theory that are not relevant to delivering thesis objectives and mainly include more academic papers to build a proper theoretical

framework for analytics and discussion part by covering the current level of knowledge related to the issue in academic papers. Additionally, some minor formatting issues might be addressed.

Question for the defense: Moving production from China to SE Asia is being discussed as one of the tools that may help producers/Amazon suppliers to face potential profitability issues. What are the

positive/negative consequences of this move?
